Underage Round Up w/e 16th October

U14 Div2 – Blarney United 2 Corkbeg 3
Credit to both teams who played out a great game in monsoon conditions this lunchtime in Blarney. After winning at the same venue 2 weeks back in the cup, this was a much closer game.
We started quite well, but it was Blarney who opened the scoring on the counter attack. We kept the tempo up and were rewarded with an equaliser from Alex Jaworski who slotted home after a great throughball from Jake Morrisey (pictured) who then got on the score sheet himself, from a brilliant Matthew Condon assist, to get us 2-1 to the good at half time.

After huddling under umbrellas during the break, the lads continued to play good football but a handball in our box resulted in a converted penalty and were all square again coming into the last 15 mins.
We did continue to do most of the attacking and got a break, when good pressure from Conan and Peter up front on the defenders resulted in the Blarney defender unluckily putting the ball into his own net.
As the rain and wind continued to sheet down, the lads were immense in defending in every area of the park. The final whistle went and we took the points. Big thanks to all 15 lads who travelled in such conditions and gave 100% effort
U12Div2 – Corkbeg 5 Mayfield 0
A brilliant team performance from the Corkbeg U12s in Whitegate on Sunday morning. Wave after wave of attacks in the opening half, finally bore fruit with a great strike into the net from Alex Fitzgerald. Mason Richards added a second from the penalty spot before half time.
Mayfield were dangerous in the early stages of the second half, but a great free kick from Bobby O Riordan killed the game. Two fine strikes from Bobby, one to complete his hat trick with practically the last kick of the game, competed the scoring.

U12Div10 – Corkbeg 1 Kinsale 6
A tough morning for the U12’A’ side in very difficult conditions on Sunday morning against a really good Kinsale team.
Most of the damage was done in the opening half. Corkbeg rallied in the second half and a Paddy McGovern goal was reward for keeping the heads up and trying hard.
Special mention for Conor O Neill in the Corkbeg goal, who had a brilliant game.

Corkbeg U15’A’ recorded a 5-3 win on Sunday afternoon in a friendly against Everton at Carrigtwohill All Weather pitch.
The game was played in horrendous conditions and massive credit is due to both teams who battled hard in a hugely entertaining game.
Corkbeg’s goals came from goal poacher Jack Corcoran, Jamie Walsh with two, Will O Mahony and Ronan Musgrave.
Best on the day for Corkbeg were Jack Sweeney and Jack Hughes in midfield and both Luke Kelleher & Caelum Evans who both defended superbly at the back. Well done lads, keep up the great progress.
