U-14Div4 – Corkbeg 3 : Corinthians ‘B’ 2

On a beautiful Sunday morning in Whitegate, our U14’s took on Corinthians ‘B’, with a win under our belt from midweek against Ringmahon, but this meant nothing unless we won today.

A full squad to pick from and all vying for positions, we started well and Ryan Murray had two cracking free kicks hit the upright, but to no avail. His persistence payed off however, when Robert Dean’s shot was blocked and Ryan was there to finish it off to make it 1-0. The strong wind against us kept us busy up the right hand side where all the football was happening.

Second half…. A few changes were made and Corkbeg were still trying hard, when Sean Corkery drove at the Corinthians defence, rounded their centre half and passed to Ryan, who stuck in his second of the day for a 2-0 lead. From the kickoff though, we lost concentration and Finn Gillen pulled a goal back for Corinthians.

We kicked off and worked hard for a spell to get a free kick at the edge of the 18 yard box. Nicholas Janowski stepped up, with last Wednesday’s cracker still fresh in his mind, he kept his composure and fired Corkbeg into a 3-1 lead.

We still had 10 mins to go and no game won yet. Corinthians kept attacking and with our backs to the wall, we gave away a penalty, which Finnan Gallagher converted for Corinthians and all of a sudden it was 3-2.

Pressure was on but we kept battling and got a deserved win 3-2. Well done to all players on the squad from 1 to 16.Keep up the training and working hard.Special mention to David,Jack and Ryan for their efforts today. Come on the Beg ⚽⚽⚽
