Home team take the points in a game played in scorching heat at high noon.

Once again on Sunday morning, Corkbeg had just the bare minimum 9 players to call on in energy sapping heat, but what a performance they put in against table toppers Midleton.

The first half was a close affair with chances at both ends. Midleton took the lead, but the Beg pressed forward and had several chances that fell to Matthew Condon, but good some goalkeeping and the rattling frame of the Midleton goal kept us scoreless.

Towards the end of the half, the home team really pushed on and added a second goal. It could have been more, but great defending from Donnacha Walsh in particular, saw us get to half time only 2-0 down.

A reshuffle at half time really had a great effect, Eoghan O Shea moved outfield in a swap with Adrian Mullane and swapping Liam Barry to midfield really changed the dynamic of the game.

The lads without doubt were the better side in the 2nd half and limited the home side to very little chances.

Despite having some chances ourselves, we couldn’t grab a consolation goal to give ourselves the opportunity of a grandstand finish and the game finished at 2-0 to Midleton.

Credit to both teams to play in such conditions. Our lads can hold their heads high after a great effort.
