U12 Div6 – Corkbeg ‘A’ 4 Fermoy A 1

What a performance from 9 warriors. With no subs to call on and 4 days of Cul Camp under their belts for over half the team, as well blistering sunshine in the Costa del Whitegate, you could be forgiven for thinking it would be to big an ask to get much from the game on Thursday night.

Corkbeg kicked off on the front foot dominating possession and pushing for the opener but a breakaway goal put the visitors ahead against the run of play. Given recent results heads could easily have dropped but not with these lads.

They pressed and pressed and were rewarded with an equaliser before half time from Peter Mulcahy.

After the break Corkbeg continued to press forward and got a penalty for handball (I’ve seen them given) 😀 that David Murphy (pictured above) cooly slotted home. The game was still in the balance, despite the home sides dominance and you could still sense the tension on the sideline as really the home team should have been out if sight at this point.

But the pressure had to give at some point and with goals from Peter Mulcahy (his second) and Donnacha Walsh the game was won and it was nothing less than what the home team deserved. Impossible to single out one player here they all were fantastic.

Team: Eoghan O Shea, Alex O Regan, Donnacha Walsh, Alex Horgan, Sam Morgan, David Murphy, Liam Barry, Peter Mulcahy and Dara O Brien.
