Corkbeg U12’A’ had a 3-0 win this afternoon away to Blarney United A at O Shea Park.
Corkbeg took the lead half way through the first half, very much against the run of play. Ronan Musgrave arrived in the box at the right time to slide the ball in from 8 yards. Blarney kept the pressure on and Cillian Burke kept the Beg ahead with a number of great saves.
Corkbeg got a second goal 10 minutes into the second half with a great finish from Will O Mahony. Super goalie Burke then effectively won the game with a great penalty save.
In injury time Corkbeg broke well and scored a magnificent team goal with Oscar Murphy slotting in from 8 yards. Great performance from the lads, although the score line flattered them a little they played some great football and battled hard all the way through.
A big thanks to Dr. Amy O Herlihy of Special Kids Medical Clinic, who presented Corkbeg U-12’A’ manager Philip O Mahony with a set of jerseys for the forthcoming U-12 season. We are very grateful for the support.
