U-12Div4 – Corkbeg 4 Springfield Ramblers ‘A’ 1
Corkbeg U-12s played Springfield Ramblers ‘A’ on Sunday morning in Corkbeg. This was their second game in three days, after a cup win on Friday night at home to Riverstown,
where Shay Rooney, Hugh O’Lionsigh, Shay Forde, Cónan O’ Leary and Conor Padden were among the goals.
The home side started off lively and early on Shay Forde intercepted the ball from a Ramblers kick out; he showed good control, a quick dribble, a nice one-two with Shay Rooney and he slipped it past the Ramblers keeper to the far corner. 1-0
Soon after, Conor Padden broke down the right side of the field crossing the ball finding Shay Forde who struck the ball nicely into the corner of the net. 2-0.
It was one way traffic at this stage and Shay Forde made a burst through from midfield and forced a good save from the goalkeeper; but Conor Paddens workrate paid dividends, as he followed up and cooly slotted into the net to make it 3-0.
Matthew Hyde O Sullivan made a quick introduction to the field by finding a great pass to Conor Padden, whos effort was narrowly wide. Soon afterwards, Padden provided Robbie Oosthuizen with a good opportunity, but his shot flew just over the bar. Corkbeg dominated the game and a lovely cross from Forde found Matthew who somehow turned it towards goal forcing the keeper to make a fantastic save.
The tireless workrate from Corkbeg wore down the Ramblers defence and again the goals came. Shay Rooney turned in a great cross, finding Liam Bowes quickly firing it into the net to make it 4-0.
Springfield Ramblers never stopped trying and grabbed a consolation goal to make it a 4-1 result.
Superb performances from all the Corkbeg players with Kaylan Cunningham linking up with Shay Rooney down the left side and Jack Cahill rock solid in the back line.
This U12 team is continuing to impress every game with great attitude from all the teammates.
