The Beg made the journey up the M8 motorway for a league clash with Watergrasshill. A strong wind and light drizzle set the weather backdrop for an absorbing contest between two very good football teams.
The Beg had Eoghan Walsh in goals and despite a lack of experience in the position, he made a couple of great saves to keep us in the game for the first half. Possession was 50/50, but Watergrasshill made better use of theirs and a couple of slick passing moves led to a 2-0 lead after 25 mins.
The Beg hit back with a cracking strike from Shay Forde, after some good work by Ewan Forbes and Andrew Fletcher set him up. Unfortunately, the Beg conceded just on the blow of half time to leave the home side 3-1 up.
In keeping with our ethos of giving all the players game time, we introduced some fresh legs from the bench. The second half was a more balanced game and the Beg had some periods of dominance without making a dent on the scoreboard. The Hill added two more before Shay hit another scorcher to give the Beg a deserved second goal.
Overall a tough day in the office, but all the lads gave it their best shot and you can’t ask for more than that. Best for the Beg on the day were Eoghan Walsh, Ewan Forbes, Andrew Fletcher, Conor Sheehan, Shay Forde, Hugh O Loinsigh.
The lads are pictured in their new away kit sponsored by Roca Sports.
