Corkbeg Girls Academy

Thanks to everybody who turned out for our Girls Training Session this morning in Corkbeg. We knew that it might be the wrong time of the year to be having an open training session, with so many people off on holidays right now, but we were further encouraged by the amount of new faces that we saw on Sunday morning. Over both training days, the turnout has been very good, even though we think the U-14 crew stayed in bed on the morning 🙂

So, here’s the plan. All schoolboys teams and all underage academy teams will finish up the extended 2020-2021 season in the next few weeks. Some have finished already. August will be a chance to recharge the batteries for everybody, as May, June and July have been and continue to be quite intense for both coaches and players. And then, the 2021-2022 season will begin in September.

The Corkbeg Girls Academy will make its maiden voyage in tandem with the beginning of the Underage Boys Academy at the start of September, with the exact dates and times to be finalised yet. We have all your details that we have gathered over the two training sessions and we will organise all the details and all the players into the appropriate groups.

We will be running girls academy teams under the following age groups:

U-8 (born 2016, 2015, 2014)
U-10 (born 2013, 2012)
U-12 (born 2011, 2010)
U-14 (born 2009,2008)

These age groups are a starter for the academy and will be constantly reviewed. Closer to the start date, we will be in contact with everybody about their appropriate age groups and when training will begin.

It was great to see so many people put their names forward for volunteering too. We need volunteers and potential coaches for all those age groups. NO EXPERIENCE IS NEEDED. As before, we need to stress that female volunteers are very important for female teams to function going forward, so ladies, get those tracksuits and training gear ordered, because your help will be badly needed 🙂 And lads, don’t worry, those cones won’t pick themselves up.

You can still register your interest in playing or helping out by contacting us on Facebook or by contacting Brian Murphy at 0879345962.

So, see you all soon. We’re excited about this new venture and we hope you all are too. Please spread the word over the next few weeks and give a friend, a school buddy or a neighbour a friendly nudge about our girls soccer academy about either playing or helping out. And thanks for your enthusiasm.
