Corkbeg 2 V Carrigaline 1
With Both teams going for a third spot finish this game had more than an end of season feel to it.
The Beg Started off very brightly with some excellent one touch football. After a great passing movement we went 1-0 up through Steve Davern. Carrigaline came back into the game and were awarded a soft enough penalty but a great save from Keith Kelly denied Carrigaline the equaliser. 1-0 at the break but the game was tightly balanced – In the 2nd half the visitors had the beg under a lot of pressure but a solid performance from the home defence kept them at bay. In a rare beg attack Chris Kelly was pulled down in the box for what looked a stonewall peno ! but not given. Luck swung the other way and after another carrigaline attack they were awarded another gift of a penalty. This one hit the crossbar but however the carrigaline forwards reacted faster and the headed follow up went in. unlucky!!! 1-1. The beg kept plugging away for the winner and Justice was done though on 90 mins when Forde Struck the winner with a clininical finish . 3rd spot achieved in an enjoyable tough game.
Best for the Beg were Alan O Brien, Dean Keegan, Gavin and Maurice Roche.
Well done to all involved with the junior team in 2009-10.
