Corkbegs U-11 v Wilton

Good news from the playing fields of Whitegate over the past week. Following on from the brilliant league victory by Corkbegs U-14 team earlier in the month, both of Corkbegs younger teams finished their seasons on a high over the last few days.

Firstly, Corkbegs U-11 team signed off in style with a great 3-0 away victory over Wilton with Alan Hogan grabbing 2 goals and Donnagh Rice getting the third. Its been a good season for the U-11s who are playing in their first competitive league and finishing 4th in the table is a good finish to their first year. Well done to all the lads for their efforts this year who have been a credit to their managers Brian McCann & Gavin Roche.

Then on Monday night, Corkbegs U-12 team drew 0-0 at home to Macroom in an exciting game in Whitegate, which was followed by a thumping 6-2 victory away to Leeds on Wednesday night. Jordan Tynan (2), James Gilroy (2), Aaron Berry and Kalen O Donoghue got the goals for the Beg, who as a result of this win, have been promoted for the 2nd year running. A fantastic achievement by the U-12s and much credit must go to joint managers Jim Reaney & Aidan Berry for keeping the lads focused after unlucky losses to eventual champions Carrigtwohill.

Well done to all concerned for what has been a terrific season for our underage section!
